Custom Parties

Monster Party!!

I've officially accepted that I'm the over the top party mom.  I can't let my kids have a normal party with store bought goodies.  It's more like I can't bring myself to buy all that expensive "commercial" stuff!  So instead,  I spend days and nights making homemade goodies for months on end.  Yep, that's me!  I accept it and I LOVE IT!  So here is a peek into our son's Monster Party to celebrate his 3rd Birthday!

 Of course there are cupcakes!  They didn't turn out exactly like I wanted but they were still yummy!

And let's not forget the crazy eye headbands!

My second attempt at making a monster cake.  The first one....well....it wasn't near big enough!  haha  Because of course we *NEED* a 5 layer cake!

My mother did an AMAZING job on our fruit monster!  Thank you Pinterest for the idea!  {and so many more}

And then....my hubby came home today (t minus 2 hrs til the party) and saw me gluing eyeballs on the water bottles at the last minute and nearly choked me!  "REALLY?  ARE YOU SERIOUS?" I think were his exact words!  BUT ...BUT... BUT aren't they so cute?!

We had an Adopt -A-Monster station. With homemade Monsters!

And homemade goodie bags for all the kids....

  And what's a Monster Party without SLIME?

1st Birthday....right around the corner!

I haven't been trying new recipes in the past few days....actually I was a pretty bad dieter this weekend.  Anything from Chicken Nachos from Wings & Rings to Enchiladas from El Rodeo I was stuffin' in my mouth as fast as I could.  Even tonight, as I type this I'm left with guilt from the Cube Steak, Mashed Taters and Corn we just ate. Ok, so I skipped the tators but the corn and fried meat, not so good for me!  Oh well....there is always tomorrow right?!  Maybe I'll get around to making the Blueberry Angel food cake that I've been wanting to make!

Kinley's first birthday is next month and I've realized this is the last 1st Birthday I will get to celebrate.  :( So in true Melissa fashion, I've changed the theme about 10 times and am going over the top crazy!  {I did draw the line at the $40 personalized M&M's though!}  I started with a Polka Dot theme, then went to polka dots and cupcakes now I've landed on Polka Dot w/ Pink....Giraffes!  Yes, Giraffes. {I sure hope my lovely cake decorator, Faith, isn't reading this since she doesn't know that I've changed my mind yet again!!}  Kinley has a stuffed giraffe that plays music and she LOVES it.  So I took it and ran with it!  I've got about 50 projects underway but here's a sneak peek of the cupcake toppers that I finished tonight.

 Hope everyone has a wonderful night!
